At 6-foot-3 and 265 pounds, Steve King is already an imposing figure as a Waterford police officer.
Now, the law enforcement veteran will vie for his first amateur mixed martial arts title Saturday at Warriors Collide 4, an Xtreme Cagefighting Championship (XCC) card at the Waterford Eagles Hall.
The card begins at approx 9:00 p.m.
King will face Zachary Price of Flint in the main event of a scheduled 15-bout card according to promoter Matt Flynn.
Also, Glenn Griffin of Pontiac will fight Dante Brown of Clinton Township in a qualifier with the winner fighting next month for the XCC amateur 155-pound title belt.
Steve Gatto of Shelby Township will battle Brian Wendel of Lincoln Park in a 185-pound XCC championship qualifier, among other bouts. Jeff “The Predator” Kugel, the man who defeated Butterbean in 35 seconds to win the XCC Super Heavyweight Championship last March, will be on hand to sign autographs.
